The Playwrights

Howard Barker's first play was performed at the Royal Court Theatre Upstairs in 1970. Subsequently, his works were played by the Royal Court, Royal Shakespeare Company, The Open Space Theatre, Sheffield Crucible and the Almeida. He is currently Artistic Director of The Wrestling School. His work is produced extensively in Europe, in The United States, and in Australia . He is the author of two works of theory, five volumes of poetry, plays for marionettes and has written three librettos for opera.

Larry Blamire is a playwright, screenwriter and director. My Name is Leslie was part of the 2nd Boston Theater Marathon. His film credits include The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra and the forthcoming Trail of the Screaming Forehead.

Erik Ehn is a playwright, educator and theorist of contemporary theater. Ehn's work includes The Saint Plays, No Time Like the Present and Wolf at the Door. His dramas have been produced in San Francisco, Seattle, Austin, New York, San Diego and Chicago. Ehn is co-artistic director of the Tenderloin Opera Company, an artistic associate of San Francisco's Theatre of Yugen, and a co-founder of the RAT movement. He received the Alpert Award in the Arts in 2002 and the Whiting Writers Award in 1997.

Deborah Levy trained at Dartington College of Arts leaving in 1981 to write a number of plays, highly acclaimed for their "intellectual rigour, poetic fantasy and visual imagination", including Pax, Heresies, Clam. The B File was originally a workshop for the Magdalena Project based off of Levy’s novel Swallowing Geography. Levy has always written across a number of art forms and was Fellow in Creative Arts at Trinity College, Cambridge from 1989-1991.

John Edward O’Brien is the Artistic Director of Mill 6. He has a B.A. from Fordham University. He has had productions of his plays in New York, Boston, Somerville and Nantucket.

Brian Polak was a contributing writer to PS Page Me Later (2006 Elliot Norton Award winner for “Outstanding Production by a Local Fringe Company”), The Weekly Dig, The DNA Festival of Very, Very, Very Short Plays, New York Collective for the Arts 10 Minute Play Festival, and the Mill City Minutes Festival. Brian is a semi-finalist for the Lamia Ink One Page Playwriting Competition, and a finalist for New Jersey Rep Theatre Brut Festival. Brian is co-writing Alarm Clock Theatre Company’s next production premiering January 2007.
