Special Two-Day Lecoq Intensive

Whistler in the Dark is pleased to extend an invitation to Boston actors, dancers, directors and students to participate in a special Two-Day Intensive in the training of Jacques Lecoq.

September 11th&12th, 2010
10am-5pm (1 hour lunch break)

Cost:
September 11th only: $90*
September 11th&12th: $150*

Led by Jay Dunn, a graduate of L'Ecole Jacques Lecoq in France, this Intensive will explore three fundamentals of Jacques Lecoq's approach to artist training: physical and vocal preparation, the analysis of movement, and the study of nature as an approach to acting.

The underlying principle that runs through Jacques Lecoq's teaching is "tout bouge" - "everything moves". Through Lecoq's training, an actor develops a vast physical vocabulary by embodying dynamics of the elements, materials, color, light, animals and much more. Drawing inspiration from observation and the study of the world around us, we will explore the potential for theatricality contained in unlikely places.

Lecoq created a physical theatrical vocabulary and movement technique that allows performers to develop their own voice and theatrical language. It requires full student participation in body, mind, voice, imagination and the art of collaboration while encouraging students to question and shape what they have learned as they engage themselves in the realm of the performing arts.

The Intensive can be taken as a two-day or one-day class. We will begin with an introduction to the work on Saturday and build a basic grounding for training. Sunday will continue and expand on the work of the previous day. This class will be physically demanding.

While some movement experience is encouraged, this class is open to students of all experience levels.
